Swimming Australia is pleased to advise the 2021 Australian Short Course Swimming Championships will take place at Melbourne Sports Centres – MSAC between 23-26 September.

Fresh from competing in Tokyo, the event will mark the first domestic competition since the Olympic and Paralympic Games and act as the selection meet for December’s 2021 FINA Swimming Championships (25m) in Abu Dhabi.

Swimming Australia CEO, Alex Baumann, said confirming the national swimming calendar post-Games was vital.

“While all eyes are no doubt focused on the upcoming Australian Swimming Trials and then of course the Games, we must continue to look ahead and plan our national events for the rest of the year for all athletes, coaches and swimming community.

“Importantly, the event will be a selection meet for FINA’s World Swimming Championships (25m) which takes place in the United Arab Emirates at the end of the year, so stakes will be high in Melbourne come September.

“We understand these dates are challenging for our multi-class swimmers who will compete in Tokyo, however we know they will be looking to take a break and refresh after the Paralympic Games before looking ahead to 2022.

“I’d like to thank Melbourne Sports Centres – MSAC for hosting the event for the third time and look forward to working with their team once again.”
