Club of the Year - Sandy Bay Swimming Club

13 February 2019

Congratulations to the Sandy Bay Swimming Club for winning the 2017/18 W J Harrison Trophy for Club of the Year. This Trophy recognises a club that is achieving great things within their community and the sport of swimming. There is a range of criteria that is taken into account in selecting the recipient of the award - see here for more information.

In awarding this year's Trophy to Sandy Bay, the selection panel noted that the club:

- is one of the oldest swimming clubs in Australia, celebrating its 120th birthday in 2018
- after nearly folding a few years ago due to low membership and coaching challenges, is now a successful club in and out of the pool
- has exhibited good growth and retention of members (including a diverse membership base)
- is well supported by all members at swim meets and social events and
- is a fun, happy and safe family club.

Congratulations Sandy Bay!
